Caucus

Well, the big event is over and more than 300 folks were there at the Aspen Creek School. 288 dedicated republicans attended. 231 that Pre-registered -59 that did not show up. Add to that 116 checked in at the event = 288. Plus, we had over 25 Volunteers that helped that were not counted in the “Voting” population. Candidates got to speak between 6:30 and 7:00pm. During my opening comments, the audience voted me as President for one day and as my first official act, I promised to close Congress for 8 months while we fix this mess. Seriously, it was a good turnout for an off year and the night ran smoothly. We elected the necessary number of Delegates and Alternates and took the Preference Poll (see those results on the homepage and on Facebook). We’ll be compiling the results and communicating to those that were elected to PCP and or DEL and ALT positions. The next step is the County Assembly on April 5th 7:00pm at the Broomfield Auditorium where we will ratify the Delegates and Alternates and the resolutions. Remember, if you were elected, you MUST attend the County Assembly in order to proceed on to the higher assemblies. You MUST appear in person and have paid your money no later that March 26th. Also, thank you so much to all the Volunteers who worked the event — you were great, and it is very much appreciated.

Q: Do I have to be present to be nominated for Delegate to the County Assembly?
A: While we strongly encourage that you be there in-person, you can have someone submit your nomination, in writing, to be voted on as a Delegate. Note however, that there is likely to be significant competition this year for those slots — so attendance in-person is much more likely to get you elected.

Q: If I am elected as a Delegate to the County Assembly, do I need to be there in-person to go on to State or other Assemblies?
A: Yes. In accordance with our bylaws, You MUST be at the County Assembly (and have paid your $5.00) in order to be ratified to move on higher assemblies. If you do not attend on April 5th, an Alternate will move up to your position.

Q: What happens if I get elected and then something comes up that prevents me from fulfilling my commitment on May 22nd to be a Delegate at the State Convention?
A: This is the purpose of electing Alternates. If you cannot be at the State Assembly or the other assemblies (HD33 or CD2), then an alternate will be appointed. It is very important that your personal calendar take account of the Assembly dates, as described above. We want you to participate, but you must be in-person.

Q: If I am elected as an alternate, do I have to present at the State and other Assemblies?
A; Yes. It is important that you be there in person so that we can move you up to delegate status in the event that a delegate doesn’t show.

Q: How long of a day should I plan on for the State Assembly in Loveland?
A: It is a long day with much business to conduct. Plan on an early morning start lasting into the late afternoon. It’s fun; you’ll enjoy it but you do need to be there all day. Your Broomfield County Republican elected officers will be there to guide you along the way.

Q: How many delegates and alternates are allocated to Broomfield?
A: Delegate counts are allocated from the State, CD2 and HD33 as follows:

  • State – 43 Delegates, 43 Alternates
  • Congressional District 2 (CD2) – 43 Delegates, 43 Alternates
  • House District 33 (HD33) – not provided yet – last year it was 38/15
Note: The alternate counts could be reduced as the final numbers are released.
