What happens at a caucus? We elect 2 Precinct Committee Persons (PCP), Delegates and alternates to the County Assembly and higher assemblies, and take nominations for election judges.

Pre_Registration

Pre-Registration Form is now open. CLICK HERE
This will streamline check-in on the night and allow us to prepare badges. You won’t be required to pre-register but we strongly encourage it because it will make the whole process more efficient and give us an idea of the turnout. Think of it, you will go to the pre-registration table, pick up your badge (with Name, Precinct Number and District right on the badge) and your packet with all the information you’ll need. In addition, your credentials (registered Republican/Precinct) will have been verified well ahead of time. Once you’ve pre-registered and we’ve checked your credentials, you’ll receive an email with Precinct Number, District number and a bunch of useful information.

Volunteers are needed: We are looking for 15-20 dedicated Republicans to help with flow control, check-in and general administration. It would be best if you volunteer for these duties, you don’t intend to run for delegate and/or PCP. The reason is that it would be very difficult to do both because the administrative activities and time required. If you are interested in helping, click HERE. The fill-in the form and indicate that you want to help at Caucus and/or let us know your specific skills in the comments section.

Caucus Education Sessions

We will be holding 3 education sessions for anyone involved in the Caucus process — in particular Precinct Committee Persons (PCP) and Volunteers. These sessions will describe the entire process and include the conduct of a “mock” Caucus. We want our Caucus on March 16, 2010 7:00pm to be successful and to allow everyone that wants to participate to have their voice heard. Therefore, we’ll be holding the following sessions:

  • Saturday February 27, 2010 from 10:30a-01:00p Sill Terhar Motors Auditorium
    • All caucus Volunteers that will help at the caucus. Purpose is to assign roles and plan who, how and what for managing the caucus.

A: No – but you’ll avoid the lines if you pre-register. Pre-register and enjoy express check-in.

Q: If I am elected as a Delegate or an Alternate, are there costs to attend the higher assemblies?
A: Yes. The party has to rent venues for County, State and Congressional assemblies. The costs are non-refundable and are to cover these expenses are:

Q: Do I have to be present to be nominated for Delegate to the County Assembly?
A: While we strongly encourage that you be there in-person, you can have someone submit your nomination, in writing, to be voted on as a Delegate. Note however, that there is likely to be significant competition this year for those slots — so attendance in-person is much more likely to get you elected.

Q: If I am elected as a Delegate to the County Assembly, do I need to be there in-person to go on to State or other Assemblies?
A: Yes. In accordance with our bylaws, You MUST be at the County Assembly (and have paid your $5.00) in order to be ratified to move on higher assemblies. If you do not attend on April 5th, an Alternate will move up to your position.

Q: What happens if I get elected and then something comes up that prevents me from fulfilling my commitment on May 22nd to be a Delegate at the State Convention?
A: This is the purpose of electing Alternates. If you cannot be at the State Assembly or the other assemblies (HD33 or CD2), then an alternate will be appointed. It is very important that your personal calendar take account of the Assembly dates, as described above. We want you to participate, but you must be in-person.

Q: If I am elected as an alternate, do I have to present at the State and other Assemblies?
A; Yes. It is important that you be there in person so that we can move you up to delegate status in the event that a delegate doesn’t show.

Q: How long of a day should I plan on for the State Assembly in Loveland?
A: It is a long day with much business to conduct. Plan on an early morning start lasting into the late afternoon. It’s fun; you’ll enjoy it but you do need to be there all day. Your Broomfield County Republican elected officers will be there to guide you along the way.

Q: How many delegates and alternates are allocated to Broomfield?
A: Delegate counts are allocated from the State, CD2 and HD33 as follows:

  • State – 43 Delegates, 43 Alternates
  • Congressional District 2 (CD2) – 43 Delegates, 43 Alternates
  • House District 33 (HD33) – not provided yet – last year it was 38/15
Note: The alternate counts could be reduced as the final numbers are released.
