UPDATE Jan 3rd 2012: Happy New Year. The State GOP Colorado Republican Caucus and Assembly System (CRC AS) allows Caucus goers to pre-register. The system is now live. Go www.caucus.cologop.org

The following Press Release was sent to the Enterprise and ran on January 5, 2012:

Broomfield, Colorado Republican Party Chairman Erich Feigel released the following statement announcing a website for Republican caucus attendees to find their caucus location online and pre-register to attend:

“Broomfield Republicans implemented a pre-registration system in 2010 that was used successfully to increase efficiency and accuracy and to streamline our check-in process. I am pleased to announce that a pre-registration system based on our design is now going statewide. Colorado Republicans are committed to investing in new technologies in order to maintain a competitive advantage in the upcoming 2012 elections. Our new caucus registration website will not only allow caucus attendees to find their local caucus location, but also allow attendees to pre-register for their caucus.”

Our Republican Precinct Caucus will be held on February 7, 2012 at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm) at Broomfield High School. In order to participate in the Republican Caucus, you must have been a registered Republican as of December 7, 2011, and you must have been a resident of your precinct since January 9, 2012. Pre-registration for the caucus is optional. To pre-register go to: www.caucus.cologop.org

For more information about the caucus process please visit www.broomfieldgop.org

For more information on important dates please visit: http://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/elections/docs/2012ElectionCalendar.pdf

*****

The Caucus is rapidly approaching. We will hold our Caucus on Feb 7, 2012 at 7pm at Broomfield HS (10th and Main – doors open at 6:30pm). This is your opportunity to influence who gets on the primary ballot (all contested races other than Presidential) and meet some like-minded neighbors. We’ll also hold a Presidential Straw Poll (only registered Republicans can vote in the Straw Poll). In advance of the Caucus, we’ll be holding Caucus Workshops for those that have not participated before. Also, one of the lessons learned from 2008 and 2010 is to have trained folks that are able to lead a Precinct meeting who know all the processes and procedures in order for us all to be more efficient. Current Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) are the logical choice for that task and we’ll be recruiting them first. In addition, we are asking for volunteers who will assume a leadership position at the Caucus. Of course, it is a democratic process in accordance with Colorado State laws, and because the Precinct attendees elect the leaders for the meeting, we can’t dictate ahead of time who that might be. But, wouldn’t it be nice to have a knowledgeable person lead us in the most efficient way? So, if you’d like to volunteer for such a leadership position, send us an email using the Contact Form on this website and we’ll get back to you.

New for this year’s Caucus: We are considering a rule that if elected as a Delegate or an Alternate to the State Convention, you are automatically a Delegate / Alternate to the higher assemblies (HD33, SD23, JD17 and CD2). An alternative to this idea would be, if you are elected to CD2, you are automatically elected to HD33, SD23, JD17. Either of these methods should simplify things on Caucus night. Note: All Higher Assembly meetings occur on April 13th at the same site as the State Convention.

FEES: Fees to attend the State Convention are: $60 DEL, $30 ALT. There will be one fee to attend the County Assembly on March 5th: $10.00 which also covers the fee(s) for all higher assemblies.

UNAFFILIATED VOTES/OBERVERS: NOTE: If you registered as an Unaffiliated Voter or a Republican that is not eligible to vote at the Caucus, you can attend the Caucus as an observer only. You will NOT be able to per-register and you will not be able to vote for Delegates or vote in the Straw Poll. Use the form on the Contact page to send me an email and I will arrange to have an Observer badge for you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We also need volunteers for other positions such as greeters and check-in tables. Let us know using the Contact Form.

Keep an eye on the Events Page and Calendar on this website for more information. If you want to be on the email list, and are not now getting our emails, send us an note using the Contact Form.

RESOLUTIONS: We’ll be providing a web-based form to input Resolutions and we encourage electronic input to help the leadership team consolidate and organize those resolutions. More on that to follow.

KEY DATES: See the full Colorado Election Calendar HERE. The important date is December 7, 2011 which is the last day you can register as a Republican in order to participate in the Caucus. Remember, you must be a registered as a Republican 60 days prior to the Caucus and have lived in your Precinct 29 days prior to the Caucus in order to be eligible to run for a Delegate position or to be elected as a PCP.

Yesterday was the Broomfield Days event and parade. It was by far the best ever Broomfield Days I’ve attended. We had a patriotic float designed and put together by Dennis Quinn along with a Red WWII Jeep provided by Frankie and Lew Ladwig, and driven by Rob Schroeder, a Vintage Vespa with a side car, and an old bike ridden by Steve Larson (well it’s not that old – I had one just like it), and to Dale and Judy Bashline for their decorated white truck. The line was long and we impressed folks with our energy, enthusiasm and our signs that were both patriotic and talked about how important the 2012 election will be. The faces lit up and they nodded their heads at the ideas on our signs. We had marchers from our own Republican family as well as folks from other counties — and that is much appreciated. Most importantly, we talked to hundreds of people at the booth and collected a large number of email addresses. The mood is ripe to move this country away from tax and spend and government interference.

If you missed it, you missed a fun day and you should make a note your self to attend and volunteer for next years’ event.

I want to thank everyone who attended, marched and volunteered and a special thanks to the Republican Women who are always there and always willing to help adding their fine touch to these events. I’m sure those that put this together and stayed on their feet all day talking to folks at our booth are feeling the effects of that hard work today. Rest up in the knowledge that we touched a lot of people and found out how many are on our side.

Thank you,

Erich Feigel, Chairman, Broomfield County Republicans

When I was growing up in Philadelphia, there was a show that I loved (and learned from). It was called Watch Mr. Wizard. He did kitchen experiments with the goal of explaining science and drawing conclusions from tests and facts. I even duplicated some of these experiments much to the dismay of my parents. So, in the spirit of Mr. Wizard, I offer my view of global warming.

Turn on an old fashioned 100 watt light bulb (Edison’s kind – not those d***** squiggly kind). Put your hand near it. Lots of heat – right? Now walk across the room. Still feel the heat? Yes, maybe a little. Now go up to the street corner. Still feel heat? NO! Now, walk outside and feel the heat from the sun. Walk as far as you like and you’ll still feel the heat from the sun until it sets. Now, think about the fact that it is heating about half the planet at any one time from 93 million miles away. And, realize further that all the energy that we use, oil, coal, natural gas is simply stored sun energy. Are there variations over time in the climate? You betcha. You can track warming and cooling to observed and recorded sun spot activity — the data is pretty clear. Volcanoes do have the ability to alter the atmosphere by blocking out sun radiation. Big meteor impacts can have the same effect. Now isn’t it the height of arrogance that someone might think man can marshal forces equivalent to the sun, volcanoes and big meteors? It’s bunk — and that’s my opinion. This video lays it out well. Watch it and see if you agree with me.

May 12th Lincoln Dinner – What a great, fun evening we had last night. 150 loyal Republicans gathered at the Chateaux for our annual Lincoln Dinner fundraiser. Thanks to all that attended and a special thanks to all the generous contributors. Our very competent LD11 planning team did a superb job — the venue was great, the food was excellent and the MC and speakers were both entertaining and inspiring.. On to 2012.
Lincoln Cake at the Senior Center, May 13th. Joan Zach, Linda and I took Emmerich’s Artist palette cake to the senior center and served it at their lunch. Yes, I am afraid someone had to cut it eventually. The seniors loved and it was much appreciated. Thanks again to Joan and Emmerich for the cake and for all they’ve done to make these last two days special. Here’s a few picture from today. – EF

02/11/2011 – Yesterday, we held our elections for officers of the Broomfield County Republicans for the term 2011-2012.

L to R: Stephen Larson, 2nd Vice Chair, Sheryl Fernandez, Secretary, Erich Feigel, Chairman, David Pigott, Vice Chairman.

Please join me in congratulating our new officers. We have been very fortunate that so many good patriots have come forward to volunteer and to assume positions of responsibility at all levels. Your new officers stepped up in the last 2 years, joined us as PCPs or District Captains and made a difference. As I said Thursday night, winning elections is hard work, and your new officers rolled up their sleeves and did the hard work to help our cause. I am very proud and happy to have this leadership team to carry us forward. Those of you reading this, and thinking that you’d like to make a difference, need only look at Steve, Sheryl and David to give you the impetus to volunteer. Join us, get involved, send us an email via this website (Contacts Page).

I would also like to thank the outgoing officers. Marty Robinson who has been my right hand man and a dedicated officer, always willing to do what is necessary; Rick Morgan who helped start up our new organization 2 years ago and has given us outstanding political advice; Jan Peticolas our Secretary who recruited us into the fold and worked meticulously to make sure we documented our efforts and kept us honest. Still serving are Alan Willimont, Treasurer, Chuck Hastings, Assistant Treasurer, Pat Springer, Assistant Secretary and the many other volunteers — thanks to all. Of course, Past Chairmen Larry Reynolds and Pat Johnson deserve our thanks for starting up and building our party when Broomfield became a County.

It has been my pleasure to serve as your Chairman for the past 2 years and I look forward to continuing to lead our Broomfield Republican Party for the 2011-2012. I thank you for the vote of confidence in re-electing me for another term.

Erich Feigel
Chairman, Broomfield County Republicans

UPDATE 2 29Nov11:: Super Mario does it again. He snuck an 11th hour map in and forced a vote. My original word thugishness is validated again.

UPDATED: Not so fast. Super Mario told to rethink it by the court- back to the commission. Maybe they’ll get it right after being slapped.

This will fry you and reveals the thugishness of the other side. What they can’t win at the ballot box, they win by filling the courts and using the courts to get their way. It is disgusting and demonstrates once and for all that elections do have consequences – big, long lasting consequences. This makes saving our country and our state all the more difficult but just steels my resolve to fight even harder. — Erich

District judge sides with Democrats in setting congressional districts for next 10 years.

In a blow to Colorado Republicans that could affect election outcomes for the next decade, a district judge has ruled in favor of a Democratic map that redraws congressional district lines.

In his ruling issued late today, Denver District Judge Robert Hyatt said the “Moreno/South” Democratic map submitted at trial “most accurately reflected and preserved current communities of interest in 2011.

“It appears clear to this court that the Moreno approach to redistricting Colorado will also produce the maximum amount of competition of any of the realistically proffered maps in at least three districts — the 3rd, the 6th and the 7th,” Hyatt wrote in his ruling. “Each of those districts contains significant Latino populations, giving that group a major role in the decision about who will represent them in Congress.

March 26, 2011

We’ve had a busy 2 days with the State GOP Organizational Meetings all day today at Douglas County High School and Friday night, the Centennial dinner was held at with guest speaker Susana Martinez, newly elected Governor of New Mexico. She’s only been in office 3 months and has already cut spending and much more.

Results of today’s elections.

State Chairman – Ryan Call
State Vice Chairman – Don Ytterberg
Secretary – Perry Buck

CD2 Chairman – Kaye Ferry
CD2 Vice Chair, Front Range – Marty Robinson
JD17 Chairman – Bob McCoy
JD17 Vice Chair – Sheryl Fernandez

The voting was shorter than I expected with Ryan winning on the first round with 5 competitors.
166 – Ryan Call
75 – Ted Harvey
27 – Leondray Gholston
11 – Matt Arnold
2 – Bart Baron

The Vice Chair had a surprise with John Wagner dropping out and throwing his support to Don Ytterberg.

Not much of a surprise in the Secretary race with Perry Buck winning the majority.

Congratulations to all.

What’s it mean to us? Simply, that we are now off and running for all that comes in 2011 and especially in 2012 when we’ll take back the White House.

Erich

As you all know by now, Usama Bin Laden is dead. He was shot in a fire fight at a compound 130km from Islamabad. This is certainly good news for us all and we owe thanks to our great military and CIA. I’m sure this was not an easy operation and no doubt came with significant risk. We can celebrate this tonight, but cutting off the head of the snake does not mean the snake is dead. This enemy has many heads and is not likely to go away with one good event. Let’s all remember 9/11 and all of the people who lost their lives including the military sacrifices made since that awful day.

God Bless America
