FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Broomfield, CO, April 21, 2014 – On April 11, 2014, the House District 33 (HD33) Assembly was held at the Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield, with the purpose of selecting the Republican Primary candidates for the 2014 House District 33 race. The outcome of the HD33 Assembly resulted with two strong Republican candidates that were nominated to the Primary election which will take place on June 24, 2014 with Marijo Tinlin receiving 55% and David Pigott receiving 45% of the vote.
On April 18, 2014, after careful consideration and reflection, David Pigott formally announced his withdrawal from the House District 33 race. In his announcement, Mr. Pigott noted “I believe that we must unite behind one candidate now. I am not so bold as to think that I am the only candidate who can win in November nor is my ego so big as to place my campaign over the best interests of my team or the values for which we fight. Our community, our state, our nation, and our ideas to make them better must remain paramount.”
As a result of Mr. Pigott’s decision, Marijo Tinlin is positioned as the Republican candidate to challenge Dianne Primavera (D – Broomfield) for the HD33 seat. Ms. Tinlin stated “I am humbled by Dave’s exit from the race, and somewhat shocked. Dave has an amazing story, background and experience and he was a great candidate in 2012. Dave has been nothing but gracious during this campaign thus far and I am excited to have him supporting me. I look forward to the wonderful things he will do in the future. Now all the focus is on defeating Dianne Primavera in November.”
The Broomfield County Republicans are ready to work with Marijo’s Campaign across Broomfield, Superior and Erie, to remind voters about Representative Primavera’s reckless, out of touch Hickenlooper-Obama agenda that continually attacks the constitutional rights of her constituents. The Broomfield County Republicans look forward to delivering a united front with Mariijo and David in this key race to send Representative Primavera back home one more time.
“David is a strong leader within the Broomfield Republicans, and I can only begin to imagine how difficult this decision was for him. David’s honor to our party is on full display with his decision, and I respect him greatly for that. We look forward to supporting his future political aspirations beyond 2014,” stated Rick Fernandez, Chairman of the Broomfield Republicans. “At the same time we are very excited to have the opportunity to provide the full support of the Broomfield Republicans to Marijo Tinlin’s campaign,” Fernandez continues, “and we look forward to working with her as she gains victory in November. This support and work from the Broomfield Republicans will start immediately.”
