UPDATE Jan 3rd 2012: Happy New Year. The State GOP Colorado Republican Caucus and Assembly System (CRC AS) allows Caucus goers to pre-register. The system is now live. Go www.caucus.cologop.org
The following Press Release was sent to the Enterprise and ran on January 5, 2012:
Broomfield, Colorado Republican Party Chairman Erich Feigel released the following statement announcing a website for Republican caucus attendees to find their caucus location online and pre-register to attend:
“Broomfield Republicans implemented a pre-registration system in 2010 that was used successfully to increase efficiency and accuracy and to streamline our check-in process. I am pleased to announce that a pre-registration system based on our design is now going statewide. Colorado Republicans are committed to investing in new technologies in order to maintain a competitive advantage in the upcoming 2012 elections. Our new caucus registration website will not only allow caucus attendees to find their local caucus location, but also allow attendees to pre-register for their caucus.”
Our Republican Precinct Caucus will be held on February 7, 2012 at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm) at Broomfield High School. In order to participate in the Republican Caucus, you must have been a registered Republican as of December 7, 2011, and you must have been a resident of your precinct since January 9, 2012. Pre-registration for the caucus is optional. To pre-register go to: www.caucus.cologop.org

The Caucus is rapidly approaching. We will hold our Caucus on Feb 7, 2012 at 7pm at Broomfield HS (10th and Main – doors open at 6:30pm). This is your opportunity to influence who gets on the primary ballot (all contested races other than Presidential) and meet some like-minded neighbors. We’ll also hold a Presidential Straw Poll (only registered Republicans can vote in the Straw Poll). In advance of the Caucus, we’ll be holding Caucus Workshops for those that have not participated before. Also, one of the lessons learned from 2008 and 2010 is to have trained folks that are able to lead a Precinct meeting who know all the processes and procedures in order for us all to be more efficient. Current Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) are the logical choice for that task and we’ll be recruiting them first. In addition, we are asking for volunteers who will assume a leadership position at the Caucus. Of course, it is a democratic process in accordance with Colorado State laws, and because the Precinct attendees elect the leaders for the meeting, we can’t dictate ahead of time who that might be. But, wouldn’t it be nice to have a knowledgeable person lead us in the most efficient way? So, if you’d like to volunteer for such a leadership position, send us an email using the Contact Form on this website and we’ll get back to you.
New for this year’s Caucus: We are considering a rule that if elected as a Delegate or an Alternate to the State Convention, you are automatically a Delegate / Alternate to the higher assemblies (HD33, SD23, JD17 and CD2). An alternative to this idea would be, if you are elected to CD2, you are automatically elected to HD33, SD23, JD17. Either of these methods should simplify things on Caucus night. Note: All Higher Assembly meetings occur on April 13th at the same site as the State Convention.
FEES: Fees to attend the State Convention are: $60 DEL, $30 ALT. There will be one fee to attend the County Assembly on March 5th: $10.00 which also covers the fee(s) for all higher assemblies.
UNAFFILIATED VOTES/OBERVERS: NOTE: If you registered as an Unaffiliated Voter or a Republican that is not eligible to vote at the Caucus, you can attend the Caucus as an observer only. You will NOT be able to per-register and you will not be able to vote for Delegates or vote in the Straw Poll. Use the form on the Contact page to send me an email and I will arrange to have an Observer badge for you.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We also need volunteers for other positions such as greeters and check-in tables. Let us know using the Contact Form.
Keep an eye on the Events Page and Calendar on this website for more information. If you want to be on the email list, and are not now getting our emails, send us an note using the Contact Form.
RESOLUTIONS: We’ll be providing a web-based form to input Resolutions and we encourage electronic input to help the leadership team consolidate and organize those resolutions. More on that to follow.
KEY DATES: See the full Colorado Election Calendar HERE. The important date is December 7, 2011 which is the last day you can register as a Republican in order to participate in the Caucus. Remember, you must be a registered as a Republican 60 days prior to the Caucus and have lived in your Precinct 29 days prior to the Caucus in order to be eligible to run for a Delegate position or to be elected as a PCP.
